KA running odd

Okay, so I got my vert running correctly for the most part but there are a couple of things that bug me about the way she runs.
First thing I notice is the way the exhaust smells. Its not like sulphur (common smell for bad cat's), but more like I'm dumping fuel. It smells like a lawnmower, but stronger.
Second thing I notice is that she idles low. In drive with the A/C off, she hovers between 500 and 600. With the A/C on in drive, she sits at about 700. When I come to a stop without the a/c on, the engine's speed will drop a little below 500, but doesn't stall out.
Third, when driving (normally when it shifts from 1st to 2nd) sometimes the car will decide to lose some of its power, and then in a few seconds it comes right back. Its strange.
Last, I notice that when cruising between 40-55 when the engine is between 1800-2100 rpms (in overdrive), it has an intermittent miss.

Im thinking these are all related somehow. Any ideas where I should start, other than timing?

I know I need to do the timing, its not quite right yet.

I am having the same problem when shifting, like it loses power and the has a surge and it comes right back. I am thinking its related to my fan clutch because mine is really bad, its getting replaced with an electric one in a couple of weeks, I'll let you know how it goes.

Well my fan was so shi**y I took it off after work today, and guess what, problem solved. I dont have any stop and go traffic so I am not worried about overheating at the moment, I live in the country.

It sounds like a timing issue

I agree, get the time'n checked out. It could also be any from bad gas to clogged fuel injectors. More than likely it's the timing.
