ahh forget it... buying an sr20 is so much easier.. already comes the way you want it from stock and all i'll have to do is drop it in.
i dont feel like dealing with the ka24de anymore i wanted to rebuild it and turbo it but its too much work/money/cofussing

yeah well a shop near my area will charge a total of 3,800 dollars for the sr20det swap so why save up money and waste it all on KA that takes more work and time to get it turbo ready...when i can drop in sr20 and not worry about a damn thing! I wanted to go KA-T cuz i herd it was faster but oh well i dont feel like swaping out pistons and this and that then running turbo then i'll always be afraid of blowing the ka up and with sr20 if i save up money i wouldn't have to worry about blowing it up..... and NO i'm not selling my new KA motor i'll just drop it in stock i guess and drive around with that so i can get to work stuff... i been without my car for 2 months now... but if i want i'll sell you my old ka motor that had 300,000 miles on it!!!! LOL
damn that is sorry 3800 on a ka will be mad faster than a sr but hey do what you want to do but for real wheere do you live i would like the engine (i wish i had a g-ma like yours just engines layin around in the garage....lol)
hhmmm 3800. well i had the plany of doing an SR swap on the 240 i plan to get but i realized a few things. 1.have fun with smog testing 2. better have a good mech 3.if a cop pulls you over and know jack shik about tuner cars pulls you over and just by chance thinks you have illegal mods and opens your hood your car gets inpounded. oh almost forgot 4. if you have a bad 2 if somthing go's wrong it will be expensive to fix if you dont know how to work on the engin.
im not saying any of this to insult only to inform also i can get that engin and have it instaled with an upgraded exhast for 3,000 so its not like the money is a huge deal but the problem is legality and mechanical problems.
now for 3800 you can have a KADE rebuilt with high CR pistons if you go NA low if you plan to turbo, cam, pully, valve upgrade, headers, downpipe, high flow cat, 2.5 piping to a high end muffler, intake. and you'll still have money left over just look around find the parts cheap and talk to your friends im sure atleast one of them has conections for parts

well if this shop your going to does work for so cheap get your parts for your KA yourself and have them do everything for you. Cause it will still probablly be cheaper than the SR. and probablly put out more HP than the SR stock. (if you play your cards right that is)
thats my plan lol with the low compretion pistons cuz i want to pop a T in like a year down the line or meybe no piston upgrade just rings and when i turbo it pop the lows in cuz riding around for a year with lows LOL plenty of power off the line but at the uper ban is when its anoying LOL
time for some estimits 240 stock is about 150HP add cams, pully and intake that adds about 40HP. so your at 190HP add headers, down pipe, high flow cat, 2.5 piping to a high end muffler that would add another 30HP so your at 230HP. S13 is 202HP so congrats you have beaten an S13 in a race with no turbo. now add valve sping upgrade some low cr pistons and 6PSI and that s!# will be RIPED. so dont go crazy over geting a SR in your 240. the only big upside with SR's is the internals can take about ...... if i remember right around 400HP on stock internals but you will have to swap out the turbo for that and in all honesty 400HP is pointless on the road in 1'st the SR runs almost NA with the way they set up the ECU so most pumped up NA cars that have around 350HP will jump you off the line cuz turo's are HP buddys not TQ buddys aspecialy if their not spooling. so NA the KA at 230HP thats about 200 at the wheels the s13 silvia is 202 at the fly so thats about 170HP. i was estimaiting on what the upgrades would do to the 2.4 in a 240sx so if any one see's a misstake please feel free to correct me. i tryed to be conservative on my estimets.
well i'm not sure yet what i'm gonna do. i really wanna go ka-t but i dont think i'm ready to do all the work myself. only major project i done myself was tranny and clutch cuz its easy as hell on a 240sx. i talked to this shop that will clean and bore out my ka block and also install the rods and pistons and make sure its right but i'll need like 400 dollars and they also said i could watch them. i have took rods and pistons out already but i'm just afraid to re-install new ones cuz i dont anything about putting them back in. so i'm just a little bit worried. I haven't gone to school yet for this but i am sooner or later
wow, ummm wow like i just read this, but I hope you have more than 425 dollars. If not start saving. Also there is tons of crap that you have to replace when you get an SR20. It's not just a buy and drop procedure if you want an engine that will last. New water pump hose's and all kinds of other stuff. Check out the Engine Swap forum to see what I'm talking about.
As far as turboing the KA just make sure that you have as much as the engine rebuilt as you can afford. Technically you don't have to but your chances for frucking up your motor go up big time. Plus you'd only be able to run real low amounts of boost.

oooo boost a stock engin in good runing condition in most cases and safly take about 6PSI of bood with out having to build up the engin for a turbo. you do cut down the life span of the motor but it wont be like you drive a mile and your engin blows up
Lower the compression on the engine will make it run like crap when it's outta boost, which is usually daily driving area. keep stock compression to keep the NA pick up before boost kicks in and just don't be too boost happy.
