motor swap
Wow is that how you guys go about building your cars, grab a jegs and start ordering crate motors with your moms credit card. And to the guy with the 1000 horse capable straight 6, the b/s is getting pretty thick in your replies. Wow you just happed to run a 12.6, a tenth quicker than my 5.0. Look guys I'm not trying to upset you, Ive got just over 5 grand in my car and you dont know how happy and how hard i worked to run that 12.7. Now this isnt my only car Ive also got a 89 5.0 [bone stock daily driver], and a 91 240. The 240 in new to me which negates why Im on this sight, but when I started reading the questions and the mods you guys were doing I was almost ashamed to own a import. Thanks for confirming my original opinion of the import scene.
I think this whole matter is pretty funny....i would never see any reson to put a 5.0 in a nissan....not only that but the fact that a 5.0 is an unreliable engine that releases the worst smell ever ive smelt in my life.......5.0 stink? you know youve all been behind a 5.0 and smelt that rotten egg smell....plus 5.0's are no fun..my friend got chased by a guy in a 5.0 in his hyundai(something around like 72hp) and had no problem getting away because the guy couldnt take turns...i'd go flying through winding streets by myself before i would drag race another car anyday...
But in lou to what you guys were saying...there is indeed a replacement for displacement...and thats turbo's and superchargers....plus i mean if i had to pick a muscle car that is the best one...and this is agreed with tons of muscle car lovers...that the grand national is THE best one....(Grand National = Turbo 6 cylinder) hmm odd that one of the best muscle cars would be turbo and have only 6 cylinders....must be a piece of ****? i think not....

The Grand National is not exactly running a small turbo motor. 3.8 liters is a pretty large motor to start with. And just for the record, that is not a technically advanced motor. It's still a an American pushrod motor.

ok a ls1 or an lt1 will fit in a into a s13. it will destroy the weight balance but it will work. for the moeny a chevey small block will out do any v8, v6, or I8. i hate to tell you but i can find a chevy 350 for round $300 with 350hp stock and far more tourque than any I6 or I4 for the same price. the small block chevy is the most comman motor in the world fact. it wil cost far less to repair a rb26 or any bmw v8. yo ucna make plety of poswer from a small blakc in fact i see more US v8s in the low single digits than i do any other motor... so what about the RB making more power? have you ever seen a 2000hp street legal small block car.... i have how many other cars have you seen with that kind of power on the street?
the 5.0 is a great motor if thats what you wanna swap go for it you will have a beast of a car
aslo Justn is correct FI is a emulations of displacement... put FI on a v8 and will destory all

Hmm, I run a tenth faster in the 1/4 mile with intake, downpipe, exhaust, and plugs. That's it. Yeah, we ruined your vision of the import scene because I don't have 5k invested to hit 12's. All I have to do is up the boost to hit 11's.
Now Catharsis - you gonna be at HIN in Seattle? You should come, but also......your whole V8 thing man, this forum isn't for it. Nissan forums are for Nissan talk, not Chevy or Ford, just as 5.0 said, he would get $hit for bringing a SR into a Ford forum. And as far as a turbo V8 Goes.....been to the track many times, seen em often, runnin 800 some odd HP and only landing in the 10's. Saw a Dodge Avenger with a 6 in it run a 9.... I also have a friend with a Vega (2000 pound Chevy) and a 350 engine....has 500 HP and only hits 12's. They are low revving motors which doesn't leave them anywhere in the import scene. Our gears go twice as long because our RPM's go twice as high.

Hmmmmm...on thing I can say is "straights are for fast cars, but the skill is really shown in the corners with fast drivers..." As for the V8 scene, they seem to have more problems than most other engines.....Got 170,000miles on the KA24E and its still running strong, got the same miles on a chevy and its had nothing but problems.....it has been babied all its life too...SR20DET coming up soon for my car so I cant wait till summer, cause its unbelievably too cold to work on cars in the winter up here in Canada without a heated garage.....Because of it being Canada the SR sources are more limited....But I know they are out there just got to look harder
Screw SR man, spend thousands of dollars for a little motor that pushes 175-180 HP to the wheels? Go RB man....240-250 HP to the wheels and it doesn't cost much more. RB25DET is by far a much better engine.

This is my first post- I have been reading the forums for awhile (I love 240sx.) Me and my freind always argue about this same thing domestic vs import. but he showed me on of his stang mags and they are running mid 8's on street tires. i havent anything that comes close to this.
