my engine's coming out

hey guys... I just got my engine hoist and got it all together. the cylinder head is already off. i'm trying to work with it while my car is parked dead on a downhill going sideways. any idea's? i tired plywood 4 feet by 8 but the hoist is still rolling back down sideways. what to do?

welp so far 9 people viewd this thread and i guess no one has an idea. man : (
sucks to be me! I guess i'll have to get my 240 towed to either my mom's or grandmother's. LOL

put rocks under the wheels of the hoist... lift the motor and then move the car back or pull hard on the hoist till the block is clear of the car...

Yeah, & as gravity wants to pull the motor downhill & the hoist flips on it's side.

I HIGHLY recommend you do it on a semi flat surface. You are asking for serious trouble if you are trying to do it like you describe.

yeah project cheap13 if i got that engine up on that hoist, my hoist would tip over to the right

I'll see what happens today. may have my friends help me push the car up a little bit up my alley to where its flat ground

mine never tipped over... i use the rocks to keep mine from rolling down hill...i guess i have just had to do it like this a few more times than some...

I didn't get my engine out. i'm just gonna let it go for now till my grandmother lets me put my car in her garage next month.

i am getting soo pissed about this crap. i cant pull the engine out cuz hoist will tip over.. plus it like snows 8 inch every other day. sucks *** where i live
