well the header end looks like about 2.5", the test pipe is a 3" unit, and my cat back is 2 1/4" piping....should i just get a high flow cat, or a resonator to replace the test pipe? i want the loud DEEP sounds that a KADE can put out, minus the "ricer"/"Honda" sound... and i already threw out the cat and resonator i had..... there's a KADE S13 at the local u-pull (any S-chassis is rare at the u-pull).... looks like exhaust is all still there.... anything i could use off of that?? the paint and body work, and now the brakes have pretty much tapped me out....

what do you have for a muffler..just run 2.5-3'' piping from the cat/test pipe or whatever u have back with straight pipes and it will sound deep and sexy..most of us just run no exhaust and it sounds ***kin beast

i have as stated some cheapo ebay muffler about the size of two cambles chunky soup cans.... here's a pic of the crappy thing

old photo, but you can see it the clearest here.... my car sounds like a dern track car, but like i said, it has that honda sound to it and i don't want to rice my car out with some funky dirt bike sounds.... i think i just need a better muffler, one that costs more than 20 bucks shipped and a high flow cat.... preferable used, i saw prices and they aren't cheap.....

Your muffler looks like the type that comes with one of those block off tips. If you put the tip on it will add some back pressure and get ride of that low rpm popping noise.
If your engine is OBD2 it will throw a CEL because of the second O2 sensor reading from just using a test pipe, this will cause the engine to lose more power than you think you would be making. If I were you I would look into a magna flow 3"in 3" out high flow CAT, there OBD2 compliant, and will prevent the CEL from coming on.

yeah the 2nd o2 is in the test pipe... and the crappy muffler has a silencer built in...i don't have any pics, but it has like a 3.5 / 4 inch tip with a built in silencer thats like 1.5".... so i guess the popping could be worse.... I'll be doing some research on that magnaflow, but my funds are low.... as it is I'm in the middle of a brake job, my rear rotors are beyond safe and my front have grooves beyond safe limits even though the surface is exactly at spec.... so i think I'll be doing a Q45 upgrade.... and to throw the price of the high flow will absolutely kill me.... especially after over $4000 in body paint and wheels and tires.... ARG my beautiful Zenki is up on jack stands looking so sad.... hopefully i can get her off of em soon.... anyways thats for all your help.... lets hope that magnaflow is cheap enough.... maybe i can find a used one.....

and hell on top of all this, my work truck, a 96 Tahoe 2dr 4x4 just decided to crap out it's fuel pump.... so thats a $6-700 repair.....crap, i don't have enough money..... anyone wanna help?? hahahah

High flow cats should only cost about 300 shipped on ebay.

And dont worry, perfect art takes time. You've accomplished a lot in a short period of time.

well more "new purchases..... i should have called this my S14 build instead.... anyways, on with it..... so i jumped on ebay, got some cross drilled and slotted rotors, with ceramic pads.... only $169 shipped.... not bad.... and i called AdvanceAuto and ordered some new rear calipers, and yes it's all OE stuff... no upgrades, even though i wanted to do the Q45 front with X drilled and slotted..... anyways, all stuff should be in by Wednesday... the calipers tomorrow, and the rotors on Wednesday... so hopefully my car will be back on the road with some better stopping power.... Also while the wheels off I'll put my spacers on... woot woot, they're only 5/16" but they'll help a bit I'm sure... anyways, thats the news..... poor girl's still on jack stands.... ARG!!!!

here's some pics i decided to take for you guys.... with my "new purchases"

how this for needing to lower it???? hahah

here's a lil pic of my B&M short throw and my dojo shift ****... not bad inside for having just over 256k miles looks better than in the pics...

don't say anything about my dirty a$$ engine bay....

good shot of my ebay strut brace and my ebay header...

test pipe... waste of $25 for the sound it puts out... some ricers would think it's cool.... not me

oh, and here's the shot of my small a$$ exhaust hole i was talking about...

freshly painted cailpers to match the paint...

dude that test pipe isnt the problem

i promise you its that muffler

just cut the muffler off and weld on a nice pipe (like blastpipes or something cool you rig up) or if you want it quiet then buy a nice muffler

dude.... i looked at the blast pipes, and those things are HIDEOUS i would never put them things on my car.... what i may need to do is get a nice catback with a resonator and good muffler.... mine's just that $2.99 ebay muffler and a 2/4" muffler shop catback with removed resonator..... and a cat, if bigvinnie and knismo are correct which i think they are.... also i don't want to do any damage to my car.... i need it to last a while.....

would this work in lieu of my test pipe???

also.... if i used one of these universial cats.... i would have to weld a new O2 bung after the cat correct??

Why would he not need to change his test pipe for a CAT for the second O2 sensor after the CAT?

yeah i think i'll scrap my test pipe, get a magnaflow universal or that flowmonster, and use the flanges off the test pipe.... either way, i need to get rid of that cackle.... and eventually do an eBay cat back.... i don't have 500 laying around for the HKS high power i want... and from what i've been reading, all cat backs are pretty much the same.... you just pay for the little brand stamping on the tip.... anyways, how long can i ride with my exhaust like i have it? safely without blowing my motor up?? or doing serious damge... been running rich for a while now with the EGR code....also just noticed some oil under the car... more than the usual one drop a night, about to go investigate in about 2 minutes....

by the way, for another new purchase, i got a Bride steering wheel (knock off), and hub.... gotta look for a write up.... hope it's easy with little risk of blowing the airbag in my face.....
