Not an engine swap but...

Even though this isn't an engine swap, I was hoping someone could fill me in on about how much new engine rings (including labor) would cost me. I'm asking because I just bought an 89' 240sx for 300 bucks and it smokes when it's run for a little while (because of the bad rings.) Thanks for any help guys.

If you're having a shop do it, more than its worth. You'd be better off just finding a local used engine and dropping in.

might not be bad rings, could be valve seals...

I had the motor in my Datsun 510 re-ringed when I had it apart for head work. We basically did a full overhaul of the thing, and it ran me about $1200.

Of course your mileage may vary...
