oil light on

oil light on

my boy is having this problem,his damn oil light is
on,i told him his oil pump probaly took a **** cuz we did the oil change and
ran the car,took it round da corner a couple time and the light flickers off
then comes back on and stays and his oil is still clean *** hell like it
was still in the bottle and his head is starting 2 make noise..what else other than the oil pump could it b??

ooooh!!he change the timing cover the other day,could he have bent the
baffle in the pan and make it not wanna shoot oil thru the motor or somethin in that nature??

First of all, what motor do you have, KA24E or KA24DE
second, if it is a ka24de the oil pump is part of the front timing cover. so if the timing cover is new, it is'nt the oil pump.
Did you reset the ECU and clear the code? if not , then do it by disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Then drive it around the block to see if the light comes on again.

well he brought it off some dude and i gues the pump was farly new..its a kade

no man i know exactly what the noise is, theres a timing chain guard on the de that runs along the valve cover in the front. it has a tendency of snapping off and dangling on the double wide chain. take the valve cover off n get that thing replaced otherwise youl be buying a new engine when that chain snaps from wear and your valves flatten themselves. as for the oil light... id go with dkdeleon on the ecu reset.

If reseting the ecu did not work, try ecu diagnostics test. when you follow the test info notice the led light and how many times it flashes( flashes twice fast means 2, flashes 4 times slow is 4 this means code 24 and so on) if you need the code meanings look in the FSM or ask me and i will give them to you. here is how to do the test.

I know removing the upper chain guide is a quick and easy fix to stop the ticking. I took mine off. But if you are getting an oil light that won't go out, then i'd say it is more then just a matter of the guide rubbing. your timing chain tensioner is tightened by oil pressure. so it sounds like you are loosing pressure somewhere. I'd go back and look for any leaks. Start with the basics.... (I'm sure you did..) but make sure you have enough oil in the pan and it was the right kind, check the drain plug, check the oil filter, the seal arround the dip stick, stuff like that.

i seen no leaks and put 5 30 oil in so i guess imma have 2 jus take da covers off and check....if da crank pulley is not tight enough do u think that would do it??

having the crank loose is not a good thing in general but i don't think it would cause a light or lose of pressure. I could almost bet you money that you don't have the required pressure. If you don't mind spending a bit of money go get a oil pressure gauge set, and use it to test your pressure. it should be 11 psi at idle and around 60-70 psi at 3000 rpms. If you're not getting that you're going to have to take the timing cover back off and check the oil regulator valve on the oil pump (the tube shaped housing on the right side of the pump). break it down and make sure there is no damaged parts, then oil it up and make sure it goes smooth. I didn't check of there are any torques on that part but check the FSM and it'll let you know. GOOD LUCK
