Oil Pan Help

OK, I need to change my oil pan gasket. I have every thing apart and went to pull the oil pan off, and it wouldn't budge. I tried using a razor blade and a putty knife to separate the pan from the block, but it wouldn't move. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the thing off without bending the lip? I don't want to use a screw driver, because I am scared of bending the lip and the pan not sealing up again. Any help would be appreciated.

First make sure nothing is holding it in place (Screws, bolts etc), Try the putty knife again. If not use the screw driver, but be very gentle. My buddy took off his with a screw driver and no problem at all. If you do slightly bend it then just bend it back, not very hard to do.

oh... you didn't tell him about step 4
..this has become a joke to my car club.
step 4 in the FSM for getting the oil pan gasket is to hoist the engine.
(alternatively you can use a jack... but you gotta pick it up a bit according to the instructions) there's some /detailed/ stuff already written out. just search in the fourms. you'll find it.

OK, thanks guys.. I ended up using a crowbar with a chisel end, and the pan separated with no problem.
