im having problems with rattling noises under the valve cover in my ka24de motor. We pulled the cover and it doesnt seem to be the timing chain, does or did anyone have the same problem that could help? Another thing does anybody know any little things that will increase the horsepower? Thanks.

 

It sounds like your saying the noise gets faster with rpm? If i understood right it may be a valve tap.

 

under valve cover or under engine? try look at the heat shield, mine was look and whenever my car is at idle it rattled... i tightened the bolt and its all good now. just a thought.

 

as for hp.. do a little search, its been covered lots of times on the forum.

 

well thanks for your input, come to think of it i forgot to say that it was the first time this motor ran it was sitting for a while so i dont know if that would make it do that or what and it smoked alot of white smoke on the first start up then it didnt do it as much. Thanks. Other than the smoke the motor sounded really good with a straight pipe from the cat,lol,. I run it in a circle track race against mitsubishi eclipses and stuff, tryin to get one to run good to smoke there asses.

 

Yea it sounds like it could be the lifters mabey so you can go to any tune-up shop and have them adjust them for cheap

 

well it was on first start up and we couldnt run it long cuz we didnt have anitfreese, than like a week ago we put water in it and let it get hot and the rattilin went away. It runs good now. We got like 70 up our 1/2 mile dirt driveway. FUN.

 

Are your timing chain guides still there? if so, that is what's making the rattle
