Question about cat... or lack there of.

Here is the honest deal. My catalytic converter is shot. Smells bad and all. I have no money in my pocket right now so I'm going to have to borrow some to get something put in its place.

I hate borrowing money so I want to keep this as low cost as I can for right now and just get the job done.

I am guessing from what I have read and what I’ve seen on eBay a test pipe will be the least expensive thing I can do.

No shop in my town will touch a test pipe for me... So it looks like I'll have to try getting to it myself with an F***** up shoulder.

My questions are, until I have the money what test pipe would you recommend? And are there any that will give you a place to screw in the rear o2 sensor? What size should I get?

Car specs: 1996 240sx (of course) with the stock ka24de.

And it's going to be louder than I like isn't it?

If anyone knows of a good company name/price or anything like that on high flow cats please let me know too. Mine blew out completley so now I'm throwing a rear o2 sensor code. (Code 77)

you could try the classified section, on here and other forums, you could probably find a stock one for cheap or maybe even a high flow for cheap....

these guys have some pretty good pricing on cats and test pipes, some more decent prices

I made my own with the help of my buddies welder/grinder.

We cut the flanges off the old catalytic converter, went and found a spare piece of piping at an exhaust shops dumpster and welded it together. Some exhaust gaskets from the autoparts store and i was done. If u need the spot for the o2 sensor u can also just drill a hole and buy a bung from the autoparts store.

When mine one all said and done it looked awesome. As good as any i've seen on the net.

NO WAY man don't get a test pipe, your KA uses a second O2 sensor after the CAT it will only make your fuel mixture weaker, less HP. I bought a catco cat on ebay for $45 bucks 2.5" in 2.5" out best deal ever. Check it out.

A day late.... I bought a test pipe off of ebay yesterday with the factory o/2 sensor bung. It was the lowest cost that didn't look too crappy.

I love the look of the catco though. I think as soon as I have everyone payed off I'll get the catco or maybe one of the magnaflow (only because I have a magnaflow/flowmaster exhaust).
