question on head

question on head

Can I remove my head without taking out the lifters,vavles and stuff? i wanna remove my head and then take out the lifters,vavles and everything else inside the head My friend told me i can't i have to take out the lifters and stuff out first. is he right?

no. you can leave the lifters and valve in the head. all you have to take of are the cams so you can get access to the head bolts.
not to sound like a smart **** but if you didnt know this why are you taking off the head.

no i already took my cams out, took my intake and exhuast manifold and stopped there cuz i wasn't sure about the lifters and valves. so its okay to be smart *** once in a while.

taking off head to get a look inside the block because I think my pistons rings or bad and plus i think i have a bad connecting rod

why do you think its abad connecting rod? is it nocking?
and did you mark your cams to your chain with #1 at tdc

yes i mark everything at tdc and i think its a connecting rod cuz i been driving for months with it knock and my car had no power, and now it got really bad to the point where the car doesn't even idle anymore

if you drove it after it started knocking you are going to need a new short block or change out the crank. i would go with the shot block. hope this help and sorry about the jacked up motor hope you get it fixed

thanks man well i just won an engine off ebay for 120 dollars shipping was 100 bucks. so not bad, engine had 100k miles only thing it needed was a head gasket.

yeah so the engine i'm gonna be getting i want to rebuilt it for performance and just to push 200 between 300HP without turbo then i want to turbo it over the summer
