rough idle

i have a 92 coupe de~
i took the guides off my timing chain because i had that annoying rattle that happens over time...well now the sounds gone but my car idles very roughly. i checked the timing and thats all coorect along with the hoses and wires for as far as i know. im thinking maybe the chain jumped somehow but i really cant see how that happened. im just not sure what to do? any suggestions

removing the chain guides would have nothing to do with a rough idle. and unless you had a horrible tensioner, i doubt it jumped timing. (you would have heard the chain making noise if this happened) it sounds just like you forgot to plug something back in. either that of you have a leaky seal in the front timing cover and pressure isnt being maintained.

okay, I have the same problem... did you ever fix this? I took the guides out, the tensioner moved back and foward.. now it just sits there and idles really rough, and if I rev it, it sounds like it's missing really bad... timing is at 20degrees... all the plugs seem to be getting sparks... and there's a very light WHITE smoke comming out of the exhaust...

Not that I am tryin' to get you high off the NOX fumes....
Smell the exhaust, that white smoke can be coolant..... It will smell like coolant if it is.......
Then your head gasket could be leaking coolant into one of the cylinder chambers.. That would explain your rough idle...
Either water is leaking into the oil pan, or it is leaking through the cylinder head....
More than likely the front cover isn't tight enough to the gasket, that would have water leaking into the pan.....
Check your radiotor and temp gauge.....
I failed to mention all this in the P.M, it doesn't let me wright everything in detail.......
