Short ram intake, AEM or Injen? whats better?
Most are new but some are used. Just ask the seller before you bid on one. You never know, some people are honest on ebay. If you get one that is not brand new after they say it is you can get your money back if you pay via paypal...
Are you getting an ebay intake or an AEM off of ebay now? The guy on ebay I got my AEM from is amost always selling them.

You guys really need to buy some books, and read them before posting. The Injen is 3" and the AEM is 2.5". There are some rules you need to follow called Harmoltz design, you basically want to match your intake too the diameter size of your throttle body opening. Why? Because you increase velocity and swirl to the engine, increasing atomization, and air density. With a 3" intake you are decreasing density, and velocity. If you ever noticed dyno charts between the AEM and the Injen, the AEM produces a better variable in HP and torque. The injen produced the same numbers in HP as the AEM but torque numbers decreased.
Now for those of you that purchased or are about to purchase a CAI don't waste your money. What that does is increase torque variables and decreases HP numbers. This means that high end power has dropped while you still maintain the same HP in the lowend that you would of with a SAI.
There really is no purpose or design to CAI on Natural aspirtation, the main design of CAI was meant to be used on turbo charged (FI) applications. Where colder air would need to be forced inducted from the outside because engine bay tempratures exceeded normal temps from boosted turbo's . Really CAI are a sales ploy that are not worth what you pay in achievable numbers in HP. If you want colder air just do the coolant bypass it is the only mod really effective in making colder air before passing through the runners to the mani.

The injen intake is overprice... I got mine used from a guy on NWN. I disagree about the CAI extention being worthless. Even on a NA car air outside is much cooler. In the area of 15-20 degrees. Trying running your car both ways and then feel in intake piping.
Personally transitioning intake types on both my 240 and on my 97 maxima I've felt the difference in responsiveness.
A couple extra ponies, more responsiveness, and a bit better sound was worth the $30 bucks I paid for the extention.
I say go cheap on piping, get the CAI extention and get a good oil coated filter. K&N makes filters under a different name, they're cheaper but same filter.

Any thing to make up for the long runners of the mani on the KA would be great.
Honestly the whole KA mani needs to be redesigned for better HP numbers.
But the short intakes are a start...

I did one of these for a short period... Just to throw my word about it in here... That radiator hose gets damn hot and sits basically on top of the intake pipe. Heats it up real quick.

CAI were made for turbo's because engine bay tempratures would reach way above 120+ degrees F, and the turbo it self that is force inducting air is hot also. The air density is too decompressed to achieve optimal power. That isn't the case with N/A. besides surface tempratures on asphalt can get hotter than engine bay temps.
Sure the car may feel jumpy in the first couple thousand RPM's, but due to the fact that intake length has increased the engine will become anemic in higher rpm's. Plus if you think achieving a fraction of a donkey is good for $100 for a CAI extension go for it, I wouldn't waste my time.

Any suggestions where to get header wrap? Also, another question out of all of this is, who make the highest flowing cone filter?
Also, how about something like this, using the stock piping and cutting it up. Notice how the coolant hose is below the intake and I don't think they are touching each other.

EDIT: Sorry about the picture size, not mine, linked to someone else's picture.

vvaffle, what is that minutre Blue filter?
Anyone use the Kool Blue filters? Thinking of using one because it'd be easier to tell when its dirty.
Not my setup. I wish though. Just got the picture from somewhere, didn't have instructions on how to do it. The small filter is an easier/better way to hook up anything else that needs air. The hose from the valve cover is usually connected to the intake pipe but it can mess with the airflow and it makes it harder to make a custom intake so it's easier to just make it use a small seperate filter.
here is a decent guide to make your own short intake out of stock piping
