Sohc Toming chain tensioner

Can anyone tell me what it will take to take the slack out of my timing chain. My car has a chirping that seems to be the chain, I took off the valve cover thinking it was the chain hitting the guides but I didn't see a top or side guide. (Btw it is a 90 sohc.) The chain was a little loose. Any info is appreciated.

When i removed my timing cover the chain guide that was supposed to be on the drivers side of the engine was in peices in the oil pan. You may just have to replace it to fix it.... not a hard job as long as you take your time and pay attention.
