spark plug wire direction

This might be a dumb question,

But i was wondering if the direction of the spark plug wires would affect spark. I'm only considering this because my headers are heating up my plug wires and everything else surrounding the headers. So instead of the wires (from the valve cover) pointing towards the driver side (and then down to the distributor), i was wondering if they can point towards the passenger side (all four wires from the valve cover towards the intake mani) and then guide them down to the distributor. I couldn't really think of any downside to pointing them in that direction but i might have overlooked something.

I was going to wrap the wires instead but I'm not 100 percent sure of the quality of wraps. I dont want them melting on to the headers.

No, the direction won't effect the spark. Are you're wires long enough to do that?
