All right guys lets see if we can fix this one.

I have a 1990 240sx, it starts and idles fine most of the time. The problem is when I go to give it gas it will sputter and not want to rev. It will rev if I slightly give it gas, but it will only make it to 3,000rpm before it sounds like the fuel cuts out. If I floor it, it will bog really bad a back fire like crazy.

I replaced the MAF and the fuel filter today. I did have a crack in the rubber intake hose by the throttle but I fixed that for the time being.

All this started when I got home last night. I did bounce it off the rev limiter in first gear, then everything went to ****. I did fill up with gas earlier that night but drove like 40 mi before this happened. I already put some heet fuel additive just incase it was bad gas but the car still runs like ****.

I need to fix this problem ASAP cause it needs to be my daily driver until the summertime, when I can ride my bike.

can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key?
sounds like fuel pump.

 

I figured it out it was the top half of the distributer that came loose.

 

i was going to say to replace the router in the distributer, but good to see you found the problem and it didn't cost much.
