thumping noises

ok so i need a couple opinions.

i found out that my car makes a very loud popping noise
it doesnt happen when i let the clutch go slowly from accelerating from lower speeds.

but in lower speeds if i release the clutch normally. normal amount of gas and clutch release speed i hear a loud popping/thumping noise from the back of my car

i have no idea what the reason for this is. so if u guys have any clues lemme hear it

What about when you accelerate quickly? The subframe on the 240sx is known to make just the noise you are describing and a set of subframe spacers and/or some new shocks may be in order.

Also is the clutch slipping and causing vibration when you get going? You may want to check under your car and see if anything is loose or rubbing such as bad exhaust hangers, the driveshaft bearing as mentioned above, loose transmission mount etc...

My girlfriend has the same problem in her Z32 and she has to replace some subframe spacers or bushings or something like that

well from what i can tell you, i dont feel my clutch slipping.

BUT my current stock shocks are shot. completely dead.

im not sure about the subframe. and when i accelerate quickly/moderately it happens. from the mid back of the car. a loud thump that people always assume is something in the trunk.

so it may be my bad shocks, like i said they are finished. my dad and i took a look at the shocks and he says that the rubber mounts are also no good.
