I thought the needle should be at 0TDC when removing the chain? Also I have to remove the oil pump and distri. driving spindle in order to take the front cover off. It says when installing make sure the punchmark on the driving spindle is aligned with the oil hole on the oil pump. Let me list of things that it has told me to do and make sure this is all I have to do to guarantee I dont mess up my timing. Set the no.1 cylinder at TDC on its compression stroke. Align punchmark on distributor driving spindle with oil hole on oil pump. Set distributor rotor at no.1 cylinder spark position. Set the chain by aligning the punchmarks on the crank and cam with the silver links on the chain. And not to turn the camshaft or crankshaft separately or the vavles will strike the top of the piston. That sound correct??????

i was refering to ignition timing, but your are correct to remove the chain it should be set to TDC/0deg. and about the oil hole you dont really need to follow that (will i didn't). what you said sound's good, so good luck w/ everything and if you get stuck don't be afraid to ask.
