OMG! I remember when we first bought the car and had to bring it home. We came in my dad's car and since the 240 was my new car, I was being stubborn and I wanted to drive it home. haha, it was fun. I ended up either stalling out or spinning the tires at every light, haha.

My sister had a bad problem with letting it stall. I mean a biggg problem. She would some times stall when pulling into traffic, lol.

man stuff like that freaked me out, i dont want to pull up to a red light with traffic behind me, and suddenly stall or start doing the *bronco dance* haha, but my dads friend has a stick, so he may let me burrow it for a week or so, to get familiar with it

the bucking bronco!!! actually that is really bad for your car.....it puts a lot of stress on engine and tranny mounts.

haha! I've done that a few times in other people's cars... only once with my S14. It was about 2 weeks after getting the car, i'm doing 70-75 down the fast lane in traffic on the highway. and outta NO WHERE all the traffic just stops. I had to brake hard to stop in time, and in my worry about stopping, I COMPLETELY forgot about the clutch, I got down to liek 15 mph and was still in 5th gear, haha. I realized it soon enuf tho and declutched very fast.

question: what is internally happening when ur car does that?

im doing the lil prep thign on learning how to drive a stick like you too, my uncle is giving me his rx7 and being shipped here within a couple months, 1 question, when your stopping from lets say 50 mph at a red light, do you just shift to neutral while your braking, or you gotta shift it down to 2 when it hits like 30's then turn it to neutral once you are down to like 5 mph

I usually declutch when I am braking to a stop, so it really doesn't matter whether ur in gear or not...

You can downshift gear by gear to put less stress on your brakes. It's called engine stropping. Declutching is when you disengage the clutch by pressing down the on the clutch bedal.

ride clutch = driving with it partially engaged

declutch = pushing the clutch pedal to the floor and fully disengaging it

bah, someone in the chicagovelocity.com forums said riding clutch meant using it for reasons other than shifting gears, any other stuff such as holding on the clutch on a light to quickly shift to first and holding it while running over a speed bump is riding a clutch
