When i had my 99 Impreza L, i would autox once in a while... The thing was amazing on small courses. I ran is STX and placed normally in the top 5 (mainly because of the 245-40-17 tires I had). It was a fun time.

Ill be doing a little autox with the 240 when I get a decent set of wheels and tires and do some suspension modifications.

Autox is awesome, because you learn a lot about your car and the way it handles. You also learn more about how to control your car, and make it do things you want it to do, rather than just reacting to what your car is doing.

my 2 cents

The courses i ran my car in, top speed was around 70mph. I dunno if that is a faster speed than usual. That was 2nd gear topped out. It was set up for vettes so I guess thats why the speed was so high.

It was alot of fun though. They thought they were gonna get alot better times than us. There was even a viper there and one of my friends has a KA-T and he was .10 seconds away from the vipers time. Pretty crazy stuff.

Guess they just arent hardcore like us. My times were good but they could have been better. This was before I realized that I had adjusted the ride height the wrong way which in turn made my pre-load nothing and the car was bouncy.

yeaup that is very true man, lots of guys think the car name will make the time better.

during my auto-x school we have porches s2k's etc etc etc. Big cars.... which are all in theory better than my 240.

well out of whole feild. I finised with the 3rd best time of the day. 1 second behind the 911 and Carrera with big big tires/slicks and an s2k

Next year I really want to lay it out on the course. I am rebuilding my SR this winter. Hopefully I will have somewhere around 400hp.

thanks for all the comments in the thread guys! and ya there is no doubt that autox evens the playing field somewhat between 4 bangers and the big v8's/v10's (because of weight and handling and several other factors...) anyway unfortuantely here in phoenix i race in STS and have the least experience in that class at 2 years (and it shows as I am second to last in my class ) anyway im concentrating purely on driving skill (no mods) for at least the next 5 months to try and get a better hold on my car, also doing a driver autox school in december.

we have an auto-x once a year in the keys that we rent out the entire island and the auto-x is 2 miles longs pretty fun but its not a spectator sport, also this one is not sanctioned by the SCCA cause it breaks so many rules, like its very dangerous cause of u lose controll your car goes either in the mangroves or the ocean and we hit really high speeds.

on the straight i was able to hit the governer on the ka for the first time 120mph and my buddy in his evo was able to hit 160+

WHAT! ru serious! omg i wanna do that soooo bad! that would be sweet to have an entire island, thers lots of raods arounds here that would be just perfect for racing, iv always wished that sumhow i could get someone to let us shut down a road an jus use it for racing one day, kinda like some rallycross, thatd be sweet, although were i live the town does shut down one raod in june(cant remember what day) an use it for streetdrags, some guy that has a ton of money runs it, i havnt done it yet but i will be next year for sure
