hey, im new, and i wanna rwd turbo!

hey, what's up, i have a 94 3000gt right now that is very nice, but it is fwd and i am afraid to turbo it because i know it wont hold its value and i dont want to replace a tranny etc. so...

i have been saving for a na supra (mkiv of course) for a while because as much as i have read a lot about them and they are definitely worth turboing, but they are expensive and i have found that i can possibly have a nice s14 240 with a sr20 swap and get a good 300whp for less than the cost of a stock na supra in similar shape.

so, i plan on buying an s14 (preferrably a kouki but those are rare and expensive) with an sr20 (preferrably blacktop)already swapped in.
i should have around 9k (savings included) in a couple of months when i sell my car (i might wait till i have about 10-11k before i buy a 240).
should i wait and get a supra. i would like to own a 240 for a couple of years before i upgrade to an mkiv.
does this sound like a good plan?

thanks for any comments and sorry for a long post
see ya

Get the 240... you won't want the supra after.

yeah, im trying to decide now if i want a zenki with an sr20 swapped or wait and get a kouki and swap the engine in later. i think i shall go with the former, but i love all the stuff the kouki has to offer. after owning a 3000gt and a stealth before that i have to have something with a cool interior, and after my 3000gt, leather is also a must, but that can always be upgraded later. now i guess i just have to search and find out all the differences between the kouki and zenki and how much it costs to upgrade, etc.

also, i figure drifting is a little safer than street racing (i never initiate one, but i cant ever seem to back down) as long as i do it in a closed lot, etc. and looks to be a lot of fun (also plan to do a lot of autocross). im thinking a 240 should be a lot easier to get into drifting with (cheaper tires for one), and will be a lot less tempting for thieves.

anyways, whoever else wants to chime in, go for it.

why is that? ive been searching and cant seem to find any good info about the differences between zenki, kouki, and the s15 besides the obvious external ones that i can see. i was wondering how expensive and how much work it would be to convert a zenki to kouki or to s15 (just front end or both front and rear), and what the interior differences were, etc. if anyone has any help, links, etc. please let me know. thanks

i have, so far i have found that it is quite expensive and even the fenders need to be replaced and if i do it i might as well go zenki to s15. i still cant find the interior differences between the zenki and kouki and even the base and se models though. im going to search people's rides though to see if i can figure it out. if anyone has pics to post up, please do.

i was also wondering if there are any stock leather seats that would be easy to put in a 240, say from a 300zx (havent found much about this yet either), but i think i might just go aftermarket.

for the 300zx seats you would have to make custom seat brackets...some 240's do have leather seats stock

yeah, i kinda figured that, im hoping to get one with stock leather or i'll probably try and find some for it. like i said, my leather seats in my 3000gt are really comfortable and i dont want to give that up for my commute back and forth to ou everyday.

Welcome. Get the 240, like eveyone said. With 9k you might not be able to buy a Kouki and a blacktop. If you can then go with it but S14 Zenkis (95'-96') would be better priced. Plus you might have some left to pack into your suspension.

Welcome to Club 240!! And damn how did I miss like all of these people??

Since I'm jumping in I'll mention that I had a friend that had a 3000gt spyder with AWD and 550 hp at the wheels. Quite a bada$$ car if I do say so myself. I was even allowed to take it out for a spin once at low boost (I was still learning how to really drive at this point in time). Even at low boost it still kicked *** and with it's AWD that thing could corner better than any car that I've ridden in to this day.

yeah, i really love the vr4's especially the spyders, but i need something that will be reliable and not have crazy high insurance. i think i will go with the kouki and possibly just turbo the ka (not sure if i can get reliable low 13 sec power from this though) unless i find a great deal on a zenki with a s14 sr20 that's in great condition.

Ok let me fill you in on something, first of all if you wanna see crazy fast KAs, go to KA-T.org, second of all theres nothing wrong with KAs (im not defending them here, im trying to decide which route im gunna go myself, KA-T, or SR). 240s are great drift cars, but any car can drift if you know how to make it drift.(except for FWD, i havent heard too much about them drifting). But i wouldnt start thinkin about drifting until you have some pockets to dump onto your car for tires, gas, ect... And twofotisx, not a personal attack, but ive been in both a vr4, and a 300zxTT, and i have to say that the 300zx takes turns better. Thats just my personal opinion.

Well If the question is still out there, you came to a 240sx forum so I think it is obvious which car we will tell you to get... a Supra...no no no...the 240! we love our cars and yah know what they are popular because they are affordable and awesome. If you want to here supra, go to a supra forum. you want leather seats buy them after market. sorry i don't mean to go off, but i think that the fact that you posted here means you alreaady want a 240, but you need confirmation. So Yes Get a Kouki with a balck top, thats what you want so get it ! Good luck Gangster!haha!

Like cleveland180 said your in this forum so your prolly leanin towards a 240 and well were not gunna say that the supras are superior because well their not ive seen many 240s kill supras if i find the video of the 240 pullin up next to a supra and then blowin him away ill post it. but until then id get a 240 if i were you, cheaper insurence, and can be a lot faster than supras
