Drift Button Not Working

Yeah i know that sounds lame but its not... i got my drift button/spin **** the other day and i pushed it on to the original black button on the e-brake. well it doesnt hold down the button like its supposed to. i have to smash it with a hammer to stay in then it doesnt relase the handle...in other words i cant figure it out and this sucks big time.

some one please help. i know i probably sound retarded beacuse this is th easiest thing ever but yeah its not working.

when I first put my **** in, I didn't take out the spring and it worked great. but a few days later, it widened the hole in the boot enuf so that it didn't work anymore. Taking out the spring was the only solution...
