Well the first event of the season didn't go so well for me. While it was a really fun course, there was a discrepancy between the 2 guys in timing, and one guy said all my rns were dirty, while the other guy said I had a clean run on my second run. Well after some talk guy number 2 jsut gave up and they decided to make all my runs dirty . Now normally I wouldn't care much since you get to drop your lowest score of the season, but alas this year they scheduled our April event on the same day as the National SCCA Autox event in San Diego, and I really wanted to go this year, UGH!!!

/end rant

Anyway, like I said it was still a fun course, my official time was a 40.977 +1 (which makes it a 42.977), and score of 864 (super low I know! it would have been 906 without the cone ). Sorry it took so long to post the video, as I was waiting on the official score.

On a happy note, the new springs are definitely an improvement, I went from 340# front, #250 rear to 450# front, 340# rear. the car responses much better and feels tighter and has less roll, you can even see it in the pictures:

I though you were gonna grab the 25's from PBM?
Also I decided to man up and get the Kosei T1's also.
But cause im 4 Lug I have the 17x7+36 option too, gonna wrap them in Continental Extreme DW's.

also question: Is 5 Lug swap Legal in ST Class?

Nice dude, you'll have ot send me a pic once your get the Kosei's on the car. I wish I had a +36 offset instead of +42 . Haven't heard anything about the continental's, are you sure they are a great sticky tire?

Hmmm, good question on the 5 lug swap, I'll have to research and get back to you.

ON a side note, I've decided I need more practice than once a month, so I'm going to Tucson's event tomorrow (a little over 2 hours away) and their skid pad is bigger than ours so I'm very excited

There pretty close to The Kumho XS's and Z1's in Dry grip but out here it rails quite a bit and well the Continental DW's Took them both out in the Wet. The Dry times it posted vs the XS's and Z1's was not that much of a diff. Less then .5s and the tire overall is lighter then both. Z1's are about 25-26lbs in 225/45/17, the DW's are 20lbs. Tread life is also higher @ 340 compared to the 220 and 180. For me it was a choice I made so the car doesnt fall on it's face in the rain.

All that time I was there I never went to Tucson lol. Think the furthest I went was FIR lol.

Hmmm, I'd double check all of that, because the articles that I have read (even Tirerack's and SCCA's) say the Z1's have the best wet grip. Also if your Continentials have a treadwear of 340 I can't imagine they would be as sticky as the Z1's or XS's. I have been autox'n for almost 3 years now, and as far as a sticky street tire goes nothing has come close the Z1 and XS in the past 3 years.

battosaii - Actually if you read the rules carefuly, certain model packages must stay the same, therefore you MUST have a SE in order to put a VLSD into it (hence the reason I made sure to buy an SE). If you have a base model, you are not allowed to put a VLSD in it in ST class. Therefore sense a 5-lug was only offered on the SE models I would assume it would not be ST legal to do a 5-lug swap on a base model.

In the Extreme Summer Tire Class yes the Z1's are but the Conti's are in Max Class. There all graded on the same Scale, just there in diff classes. I've been researching tires for a few months now so I'm very positive...
I made an Excel sheet of the Numbers posted by TireRack side by side for the DW's, Z1's and XS's if you would like to see that.

As for having an SE, do they go as far as Running the VIN?

This is not true, because chassis vin identification does not indicate VLSD or not, it doesn't matter. There were "CUSTOM" options at time of purchase at the dealerships to get VLSD and power windows as options on any base or LE model, so scca cannot rule that out. You do not need a true SE model. This does not disrupt the integrity, or change it as a modification since it is included as an OEM standard application.

I bought an LE s14 that came with 4 lug, power windows and VLSD from factory this does allow me to participate in scca, the only true difference in LE and SE options is interior, luxury options such as leather seats, 5 lug, ABS, and power windows.

I wasn't to sure if power windows was on all s14's... Its just easy to confuse with s13's which had both options but didn't offer vlsd or 5 lug.

I think 5 lug was the only thing that was for SE models only, although I've been told that on early 95's it was an option.
