Resonator will quiet it down a bit and eliminiate the backfire. I have a GP Sport turbo exhaust on my NA KA, installed a resonator from a Fujitsubo exhaust for a GTR, it reduced db level by about 11 dbs and killed the crazy backfire I had from running such a big catback system (too much free flow). It should do the trick, but to really quiet it down, you need to change out the muffler core or find a brand name exhaust muffler w/ silencer. I'm going to downgrade to an HKS Hyper exhaust for NA this summer, with resonator, Im still a good 17 - 18 db over the limit.

I'll try to find the email my friend sent me that came from SEMA, dont remember the title of the law but the test is run as follows:

Holding an Db reader 22 inches away from your exhaust 45 degrees perpendicular to the opening at exhaust height, exhaust must be 93 Db or lower with engine running at 2/3 of the power band. For us it must be under 93 Db at 4500 rpm. Im at about 99 - 100 db at idle. yeah, time for a new exhaust before I get bent over royaly by the cops. Not to mention I lose power mid band. Can anyone remind me why this happens? Top end has power like no other, but my mid range suffers.

How is the tune? Sounds like somethings wrong with your tune or the car isnt running right. When i was ka-t with a t25 setup i had power from 2700-5500ish. It never dropped out but it didnt pull like crazy because its such a small turbo. Pm me your setup and ill see if i can answer some of your questions.

Im running NA KA, no turbo. From what I hear, if you run too big of a piping, you lose mid range but gain top end. If I had a turbo, it would be a whole different story.

Sweet! Inspiration to complete my sohc turbo. What are you running as your fuel management/tuning?
