Actually I'm going to be rebuilding the KA and going KA-T. For the power and torque I'm looking for, the seems to be the way to go. I recently got an offer from a professor at my college to help me rebuild the motor, so I'm going to take him up on it and try to salvage this thing. Sorry.

So decided to take a look into KA-T for power and have a professor on campus that offered to teach me how to rebuild the KA. With the idea of rebuilding the motor in my mind, I set aside this weekend to start teardown and cleanup of the KA. I don't think Ill do a tear down/rebuild thread/how-to for this project, though i may go with a rebuild/turbo setup thread if there seems to be a demand for it. Anyway, here are more progress pics.

Made a frame to support the motor so it didnt rest on the oil pan when we removed it from the car.

Also fixed my cracked center trim piece. I need to fill in the crack on the top but finally fixed the bottom with 30 minute epoxy and a strip of bare aluminum.







And finally........F*** Dealerships!!! This is a rip off for a stock rear spoiler and the center trim I fixed!!

Got the motor torn down to a block and rotating assembly but the diagnosis is not good. Its either a blown headgasket that I cant tell from the gasket or the head/block is warped....





Poured oil into the spark plug holes becuase we had previously drained the motor and had to rotate it to TDC to do some of the removal.


Sludge of doom. Had a few opinons say its from a headgasket blow.


Holy RTV Silicone Batman!!!! The entire engine was like this.....

silicone is not a bad thing unlike honda that uses gaskets for everything iv found in my KA and SR nissian uses RTV for most gaskets like water pump and oil pan. anyway when you reseal everything back up go with the Grey RTV its better then the red or black one

Its not ballsy, just gotta be sure I have a shop manual to work from when I put it back together. The plan next is to wait until I get back to school after the holidays to rebuild the KA. I found a turbo kit and I think that I'm going to get it, sell the ripoff turbo(a GT28RS replica....), buy the real deal, and have one of my dad's friends from the drag strip check the piping and reweld it if needed. The guy builds turbo charged Kawasaki drag bikes in is spare time, carburated turbo bikes...this guy knows how to weld. Then depending on how much extra Xmas/Bday cash I have left I MAY add some upgraded internals to the motor. After that it gets re-assembled and dropped back into a cleaned/painted bay. Will do the paint work over Xmas break.

i got a stock rear spoiler for my s14 in great condition say for paint, from a junyard for 50 bucks, i also bought a couple other things with it so the spoiler alone prolly would have been like 40 bucks
so unless you really want to buy really expensive things from nissan, id reccomend checkin out local salvage yards first, u can find lots of great things, jus spend a lil extra time cleanin em up

Thanks for the advice but the ONLY reason I went to the Nissan dealership is becuase I went to the auto wrecking yards and out of the 250 cars in the import section of the largest yard, neither car had a spoiler from the factory. So many damn Honda accord with flip-up headlights, like every third car, but only 2 S13s. They hit the yard and are stripped within hours. The other wrecking yard, well the only nissan badge was on 2 altimas and a few stripped 300ZX shells.
