Boost pressure selenoid..

i'm confused about the boost pressure selenoid

from what i read some people that use the selenoid are boosting at 10-11 psi

and some that didnt use the selenoid are boosting at 7psi

from my understanding the actuator spring is set to 7psi.

how exactly does the selenoid work and does it really make a difference?

i dont have it on my s13 SR but i do have it laying around because i didnt think it would make a difference.
