engine has trouble starting from cold
Honestly, it could be because of a vaccum leak, timing could be off, distributor, bad starter, like someone said; bad tuning--it could be any number of things. Why would you buy a motor that has problems? Did you do a compression/leak test on the motor, or do you happen to know the results? Compression test will basically tell you the overall health of the motor. You don't even need the motor in the car to be able to tell it's compression.
Let us know what you find out. Good luck.
