16" wheel offset ???

I'm picking up a 92 base model 240 in a few days. I'm kind of a newb to this car as I've been a big VW nut til now. Anyway car is riding on hubcaps and steelies so I want to put some nice alloys on there. Got a line on a set of 16" mesh style wheels. black centers with a polished lip. They are 16x7 (2) and 16x8 (2), et is 40 on both. Now from what I've seen these I'm thinking these are gonna be way in huh? I want something that will come close to being flush with the outer fender lip. Don't want a skinny looking wheel. I don't like that tucked way up under look. What kinda offsets should I be looking for in a 16x7, 7.5, 8" wheel?

okay I think I answered my own question with a better search. I'm gonna want an offset closer to 20-25 on a 7-7.5 wheel I'd guess. That way I can still run a nice fat tire and not rub all over the place.

sorry guys I'm learning....it's like starting all over again after years of german FWD cars.

+30 all around would be good enough IMO. The closer to 20+ the better

Jedi, I'm guessing that's for the front? That is a pretty low offset, but I don't think you will have to. Then again it depends on the tires you use and how low your ride is.

I would have to see the spoke design, but I'm pretty sure they will.

i got em from venus auto when they were doing the silvia conversion special thing for like 400 or 500 dollars...

i think someone at venus made them themselves cause i had to redrill just about all of the holes and if you look closely you can see that the driver signal light doesnt fit exactly rite....

however, most ppl wont notice it unless i point it out to them....I plan on just stickin with those for now until i see someone on a forum with the oem fenders for sale in my area...

but yea...back to my question....i eventually wanna get z brakes and i dont think rollin my fenders is an option... can i fit 17 x 8 on em without rollin? if not wuts the largest size i can fit without fender rollin assumin i dont need spacers

+12 is to low, get them in +20 and you will be set.
