why is he an idiot? because of the cut springs, comparison of spring rates, or the part of wasting the money part? i agree with the first and the ladder part of his statement. idk about the spring rates though.

He is in fact wrong though. I always advise against cut springs as it is a very bad idea. Spring rates are determined by the thickness of the metal, strength of the metal, diameter of the complete unit, angle of the coil, bumber of coils, etc. To say that a cut stock spring would be anything similar to an eibach is incorrect.
Decent used springs can be had for under 100 with good new springs ranging from 100-200. Spend the money or don't lower you car
