brake fluid question

hello i want to replace some of my old brake fluid with new fluid and i want to know if brake fluids can mix?
in the car right now i have GUNK dot 3 heavy duty brake fluid.
i bought valvoline dot 3 & dot 4 brake fluid

http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=51

the valvoline is synthetic and the gunk dot 3 is not synthetic
can i mix the fluids?
or do i have to flush out the brake system and replace the fluid with the new?

the valvoline does say it is compatible with conventional brake fluids soo
wat do you guys think? can i mix them
thx

you can take it to a brake shop and they can do what they call power bleeding... they hook it up to a vaccumm type system and suck all the old fluid out and put new in at the same time....thats what i suggest doing. i wouldnt empty whats in the master for the fact of air bubles in the lines(thats not a good thing!!!). if yopu try and bleed the system by you self its a big pain in the ***. you legs get tired from pumping the brake and it just sucks all together.
