broken brake pedal

Well the time has come to put my old 91 240sx fastback back on the road, but i realized that my brake lights stay on all the time. I troubleshot it down to the plastic stoppers that are situated in the pedal itself. They shattered sometime in the 3 years it sat in the sun. Now im faced with a dilemma, i need to get the light working correctly again, but cnat figure out what to to. I though ab out putting a bolt through the hole, and then a nut on the other side with a washer, but i cant get the pedal down far enough. Any suggestions?

On a side note, i noticed there were 2 brake light switch things. One small and one big. Whats the smaller one for?
