coilover setup

Ok, call me an idiot whatever but I have never owned coilovers before and have the apexi N1s in my 93 240 I do want to get the car corner ballanced etc... but could someone tell me how to set the coilovers up enough to drive the car. baisicaly the only thing that puzzels me is setting the spring preload, I know that is sort of a matter of taste but could somebody give me something of a baseline to go by?

baseline - dial the spring perches up until the spring is touching the top hat and the spring perch. Then dial the perches up another 15-20mm. That's enough preload to keep the spring from jiggling around, and not too much that you affect the way the car handles with overloaded springs
