front strut locking ring missing,

sup I installed my front suspension the other day and after the install I lost or was missing on of the locking pin that lock on the strut shaft on one side. How bad is it that im not using this piece? What will it do if it not installed? Its the piece in the middle of the spring perch. I noticed the other side that has the pin installed still rotated.
