Ok, here's the story:

I found the Nismo LM-GT4 wheels for sale and really like them. They are the ones that Nissan is selling now for the 350Z. So I had to find out the offset to see if they would work with my 1997 240SX. Nissan didn't know, dealership or national headquarters or whatever. So I called tire rack, and they told me that the hole in the rim that sits on the hub is actually larger on the 350Z, so they wouldn't fit because of that. BTW, they still couldn't tell me what offset they were. Now I'm really confused... I've never seen specs for that hole on any website that sells wheels. I'm looking at some other wheels as well (5Zigen, Black Racing, and Buddy Club) and now I have no idea if those will fit either!?

I dunno...if tire rack said it then I would belive them. They really know theyre ish.

 

Hrmm... I just called Tire Rack back and got a second opinion. They said the same thing. He said you'd have to contact the seller or manufacturer to find out the size. Well, does everyone just get lucky all the time? Heh. I did find out that for my car it's 66.06 mm, and the 350Z has just 66, so that means I can't use the Nismo wheels, that I wanted. Dangit!

 

Ok, make this a freaking sticky lol. After much calling of random wheel sellers I've come to a conclusion. 1) Many of the people at Tire Rack are annoying (I called back and talked to 4 haha), and though I can understand them wanting to only sell their product, they could have told me this in the beginning to save me a lot of time. 2) The *.06* or *1* mm difference between the 350Z and the 240SX is just from rounding, and they are actually the same size, you could make them fit, if need be, with 30 seconds of sanding of 1000 grit sandpaper basically. 2) Usually companies make the hub hole much larger on their rims. For example, the 5Zigens I was looking at were 73 mm, well that just threw me way off. Then I found out that there are adapters that you can use, to make your actual hub larger for these rims. So as long as your hub is the same or smaller than the hub hole on the rim, you're fine.

Thanks man. BTW, another thing: You have to call somewhere like Tire Rack to find out your cars hub size, then call the rim company to get their opening size. I find it annoying that companies don't list those on their site.
