blown turbo question
blown turbo question
OK, I think my turbo is going, going, gone. I have a RB25det, and it is only boosting at 5 psi(+/- 1/2psi) and I have a light coating of oil in my intake pipes and recirc pipe from bov. could this be the compressor wheel? anything else to check? everything is completely stock.
Does it make any unusual noise? Check the shaft play on the turbo, Does it move? How much? If it's unreasonable I would consider removing the turbo and having some one else inspect it and either have it rebuilt or upgrade it. The problem with you only boosting at 5#s The wastegate sounds like it is opening prematurely, Do a little investigating and see if something is wrong with you wastegate or if you have any other obvious problems. The oil is normal, as long as its not excessive. It's blowby vaporized oil in the crankcase is recired into the intake pipe on the turbo. Write back I'd like to know what has happened. good luck
Do you have a crankcase breather? If not then you may be getting oil from the crankcase. It's a commen problem on most turbo's. That's why they install carnkcase breathers. My DSM does it. A cheap alternative is to buy a inline see threw fuel filter and put it in between the crankcase ventalation and where it connects to the intake. This way you can see oil build up and dump it out if need be.
