I just recently recirculated my HKS SSQV and now it makes a sound that sounds like a very, very muffled compressor surge. A flutter I guess. The only thing I can think of is when the air is recirculated into the intake pipe there is some turbulence between the already compressed air and the air being compressed.
sorta, its compressor surge, and "could potentially harm your engine" but there have been people running with compressor surge for years, and their turbos are still kickin it, so its not really a big issue, it just despools the turbo. adding a BOV that works will keep your turbo spooled, and compressor surge will stop the wheel from spinning.

Greddy's just don't commonly make a fluttering sound because of the nature of the valve...greddys flutter when they're improperly adjusted and aren't doing their job.
I had my type-s adjusted almost full-hard for a while and got that fluttery echo...finally took it off and hooked it up to a vacuum hand pump, went to 20 psi vacuum and realized that the thing WAS NOT opening...adjusted it right, and now it makes a high pitched single whistle/exhale sound. THAT is a greddy blowoff valve sound...any fluttering, that's air bouncing around between your throttle plate and turbo blades

I really dont see the point of upgrading a bov on a stock turbo unless you really crank the boost. I just think that if the stock one can't do its job nissan wouldnt of used it. As for a good valve does anyone on here use forged motorsports bov. I know of a wrx using one and read about how reliable they are, how little they leak, and how they arnt too loud.
