ka24de internals and turbo problems
I'm new to this forum. I recently totalled my altima and have been looking at the 240sx as my perfect replacement car. I'm looking to buy a 1993 manual and i want to keep the stock engine. The altima has a ka24de and i've learned to work with it so i figured it would be perfect to get a 240 because i'll already know enought about the engine to get started on my way to turbo. I was wondering if the ross pistons on www.ka24de.com keep the stock compression that the engine normally has. Also what kind of head gasket should i get that will allow for 30+ lbs of boost. I don't plan on doin much more except for maybe bearings and an ARP head and main stud kit and ross pistons and a little bit of valve work (the ka already has forged crank and rods). After that i plan on going turbo. I just want to make sure i have an engine that isn't going to explode and will be able to handle a large amount of boost pressure.

That's kinda the plus of the ka motors though...if they do go boom then you get another one for about 200 bucks.....blammo!
P.s. 30+ lbs of boost is hard for any engine to handle, nevermind the components. 30psi will increase air flow by almost 300% compared to stock, so plan on alot of kablamos. KABOOM! i love that

Ross will lower comps 8.5:1 give or take a few numbers, which is what you want when FI. stock comp is 9.something:1 on a DE.
boosting 30psi...buy at least 2 or 3 headgaskets and that many sets of ARP studs. Or get an extra KA motor just in case.

30 pounds of boost? That's it?. I'm running 39psi on my stock Ka24e with one of those ebay electric superchargers. If your headgasket blows out you have tuning issues. I still run the stock one with 280k miles.
Sorry for that Im just kidding.
