SR Build to reach 300 hp: Please affirm
Hi I drive a 97 240sx and my previous goals were to get a rb25det. But since my car will be daily driven and the parts market for rb is fairly low, not to mention downtime of having the parts shipped, I'm currently looking into the sr14 blacktop motor. For anyone with experience with the sr14 blacktop here's a list of parts I was hoping to hit at least 300 hp with the below:
- t3/t4 turbo
- valve springs/valves
- Aftermarket intake
- 80mm downpipe
- 80mm exhaust
- 10psi w/ boost controller
- FMIC
- Piggy back ecu upgrade + tune
If there's brands i should look out for that'd be great. Thanx for your help.

for a nice, pretty quiet exhaust, get the HKS Hi-Power system. 85mm/120mm tip. It looks really good. Sounds great, if you want a high performance, quiet exhaust..definitely check this out. I have it on my car. The valves/springs wont give you much horsepower..just lets up rev higher. With a turbo upgrade, you'll want fuel pump/injectors/fpr..whatever. I'd like to get my car dyno'd..im running full exhaust, full fuel, T3, ECU, fmic, etc etc. I might pull it this weekend at K2K2K3.

are you lookin for 300 at the crank or at the wheels?
What are the specifics on the turbo you want?
you will need to boost more than 10psi, the stock head gasket is good for 1.2 (around 17psi)

I have a pretty decently sized T3 on my KA24 and it starts spoolin pretty good at around 2700 and pulls hard through 6000. I guess SR's and the 4g63 put out a similer amount of exhaust gas and i just put a G57 (garret T-57 pretty much) on my friends Eclipse. His turbo doesnt start hitting until about 4400...so thats a bad daily driven turbo. Lol. to quick boost

I would suggest a Garrett T3/T4. You can get some real nice boost out of those and you won't be looking to switch the manifold. They have fairly good spooling time and bolt to T3 35mm wastegates and such. I have heard of them running at least 18psi and that was on a KA24DE but the motor blew. Go figure though. But I would say that if you want to look into it, it got about 400 to the wheels on a KA24DE that didn't too much done to it. But like I said, the guy didn't reinforce the turbo by upgrading alot of things like the head gasket and what not. This would be the best bet I think if you want a good spooling time and still be able to get a lot of boost with as little lag as possible. One of my friends is going with that and a tial hybrid wastegate on his redtop SR and I will let you know how that works out. But the wastegate itself is sweet it starts at 35mm but instantly opens to 40mm so you can run a lot of boost on it. Oh and one bar is roughly 13.7psi
