well well.. this isn't quite a suprise to find somebody asking which motor is better SR or KA24DE ...
like mention before Nissan recommends 91 octane ...
if your boost.. you shouldn't go cheap on gas.... you'll regret it ...
if i would have to choose between an SR and KA24DE i would choose the KA24DE.. just because i could get a block or head and work on it and get it for super cheap.. then again if you get an SR from japan.. you'll be pretty much getting a junkyard motor with a ??? mileage.. some guarrante less than 50k miles on it.. but who could we trust on this corrupted world.. well back on topic..
I'm right now having a motor built.. sent the block to the machine shop and got some internals for my KA24DE .. JE pistons 8.5:1 and Crower Rods.. i'm leaving the head stock with the s13 stock cams.. for fuel i'll be running a standalone.. right now i'm thinking in getting a Haltek e6k.. not very sure on the standalone right now.. piggyback is out of my range right now..
after i boost the built motor... and run it for a couple of months if that.. i'll be having a intake manifold made and repinning a exhuast cam to fit the intake cam and then dyno the car and see the difference.. maybe i'll do everything at once... :-/ .. not sure.. but do expect some high #'s coming out of the KA24DE ....
there is somebody already experiementing with the KA24DE.. on another forum he posted his dyno result.. setup.. similar to mine.. same CR and a standalone but his turbo was a t3/t04e .60 / .63 .. at 17psi he dynoed 410rwhp and 407lbs of torque... so yeah
..
I belive in the KA24DE !
i would like to say hi to everyboy on this forum making this my first post...
by the way.. i run 87octane on my FB which is NA right now and it's running pretty darn well.. til today... there hasn't been a single NA KA24DE 240 to beat me.. two have given me a hard time but i tend to pull on top end before fuel cut
.. not to mention a couple of victories over some Spec-V's y0! .. with no headers.. hehe

hey,
I dont really have much experience with either motor, but I think that it really depends on how much you want to spend on your motor. Now, you already have the KA, you COULD spend the money to turbo, rebuild, bullet proof(reinforce) and all the upgrades that will have to happen to make that motor withstand the torcher of a turbo. Or you COULD go with a motor proven to withstand the boost of a turbo, which with just minor upgrades and the boost turned up will put you close to 300hp. I have heard from many turbo people, that it is WAY easier to upgrade a turbo car, than to turbo and then upgrade a car!! And the fuel problem can be solve buy having you ecu sent off and programmed to run on 91 octane; which will help you get the boost up while solving your fuel problem. I dont know what the company's name is but they specialize in reprogramming ecu's and beleive me I have heard nothing but indrecible things about them!! Sorry for misspelling but I am about 10 minutes from falling asleep on my keyboard!! OK I just found the name, its called Jim Wolf Technology!! Go to this site,
http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/
and give them a call, I am sure they can better explain to you the advantages of using them versus just running a turbo car on way less octane then recomended!! Well if you need anymore of my advice or have anymore questions let me know. stockpsisupra@yahoo.com!! I will try to help if I can!!

more ifo on the swap
if you are getting more interested in the SR20DET, swap here is an awsome site for you to check out!!
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/tech/0205scc_silvia/
This page details like everything you will ever need to know for the swap. Check it out, they go step by step through a swap. They even tell you what model cars will work best, and then tell you how to prep the car, how to take out the old motor, and how to install the new sr. Pretty sweet deal, I wish I would have found people like this before I started my silvia swap a few years back. I tell you, the silvia swap has come a long way in the past two years, I was all have to pay people to re-wire crap, and I just ended up selling everything. But check out the two sites and you should have enough knowledge to go your own way!! Let me know if you need anything else
