Does Apex make a Power FC for the KA24? That is something you may want to look into. It is very simple to hook up, it uses the stock wiring harness, and I have seen it in action. Very nice. One of the most common for the SR20.
If they don't make one for a KA24, you can go SDS, never go wrong with Haltech/Motec and you will go wrong with a piggyback. Do not just get a piggy back, you will regret it later on, it's more of a simple fix.
I guess you could send your ECU to JWT, but I don't recommend that. Makes troubleshooting impossible (no stock ecu to back you up), and it is WAYYYYYY too expensive, and WAYYYYYY inconvenient.
Also, look into the AEM EMS, I don't know if they have one for the KA either though.
