White Smoke (Turbo)
So basically i'll be driven, look out my back windshield to see that every car has pulled over due to the "0" visibility caused by the smoke coming out my exhaust. I have heard that my turbo has gone bad, about 70,000 miles on it, or that my headgasket could be blown. Reguardless i need to fix the problem before i get blamed for causing the "O" zone layer to break open. Any help would be wonderful, appreciate it.

lol dont worry, I almost broke it open as well. A compression test will tell you if its the rings or headgasket. If you are not overheating or burning up lots of coolant, then its not your headgasket. I had the same problem and my turbo was blown, so that is probably it, also check for oil in your hotpipe, blow off valve and pipes that connect to the turbo, if there is any oil in there then that is a definite sign its your turbo, which it sounds like it is to me.

Appreciate it, i believe we've narrowed it down and found a suspect. Last night i removed all pipes to turbo and intercooler, their was a pool of oil sitting in there. I think i will still run a compression test just to be safe. A new turbo sounds like thats next on the list.......anyone have any suggestions how what turbo to bolt on to the (rb20det), or where to find one?

i flushed the whole engine, included a dye kit, which helped me find out where the leaky or cracked spots were. I found out there was a huge crack in one of the manifolds, i am still investigating to see how the oil exactly ended up in the piping?

I appreciate the help, i removed the turbo and brought it into "Wright" import in North GA (if familiar with area" like i was told the turbo was history. Im still waiting for a price to rebuild it, if too much then new turbo. The turbo i removed was a air-air turbo, i was planning on putting in a air-water turbo?....any suggestions or advice
