Have any of you guys put large speakers in the back and the bar that twists to hold the trunk open gets in the way gets in the way? How did you solve this problem? i want to try and keep the orginal look for now atleast

How large are you thinking? over 6.75"ers?

 

I have the same problem. I have Alpine 6.5 component's in the back and the magnet is rather large so the bar for the trunk when you close it hits the magnet. All I did is but some thick tape where it make contact. I don't know if you can bend the bar so it can clear the speaker?

 

i just test fited alpine type-r(6,5") and the bar will hit them when i close the trunk

 

if i remember right the speaker drops in from the top of the rear deck lid... if that is the case you can take a half inch piece of particle board and make a spacer that will lift the speaker up higher than it usually sits... this will change the grill higth as well but half an inch should not be that notacable...

i dont suggest letting the spring bars hit the speakers as this can actually bend the speaker basket and caust damage to the speaker that would not be covered under any defect in the piece itself... hard to get it exchanged when it is bent to $hit...

 

I have had my speakers this way for over two years with no problems (Yet). But that's a good idea that you suggested.

 

i have some big orginal speaker grills so the speakers drop in from the top and the carpet thing them goes over that

i think i might just have a 3 way componet set custom fitted in the rear deck later on

 

um... why not just get a decent set of 6.75's that have a shallow depth for the rears? Rear speakers are for rear fill in the first place - not for main output, not for "replacement subs" either

 

3 way components don’t have to be loud as **** they can be used for rear filling if you want to use them that way you just don’t turn the gain on the amp as high as you would with front speakers.
I already have a nice 2 way component set up front, but as I said it is only a thought so nothing decided yet.
