basically its narrowed down to the actual tach guage itself. we think its the little chip in there, behind the face of the tach. NOW, can i replace just taht chip, the whole tach, the whole guage cluster? any tips are appreciated...

info on the car:
97 240sx SE with s13sr20det... nothing else matters after that...

Probably be easiest to just replace the tach, I believe it comes out with a few screws. Don't quote me on that though, I know thats how it is with s13's, but I never really had a chance to ever check out the s14's.
