Hey guys, I have a wierd problem . I have a strange scraping noise in my passenger rear wheel well. I am not sure what it its but it has been going on for a while, at first i though it was a leaf so i did nothing (it sounds just like a leaf being rubbed on the street). Then it started to bother me so i jacked up my car and noticed a broken exhaust hanger, so i got it rewelded. Problem is still happening, If it was a brake pad rubbing wouldn't it wear down after a few weeks? Any help is apprecieted. Thanks!

 

jack the car up and try manually spinning the wheel first - maybe you can hear the noise and locate its origin... if it was a brake pad it wouldn' tnecessarily wear down and just disappear as easily as you think.

 

i had this in my car when i turned... i forget what it was that was rubbing... are there marks on your tires at all??

 

Well I can turn the wheel by hand but i cant fin the noise, But sure as ever it is always there. It all happened last year when i hit a pole going around a turn, the curd destroyed most of my rear axel, so i had a mechanic replace it and another look at the finished work, they both agreed the work was well done, but since then it has made that noise. I will try messing around with the brake pad and seeing if i can get it right. Another question though... How do i change the fluid on my lsd ( i know the original owner probably had it dont but i have put about 3k miles on it and feel like i better change the fluid just in case, I can find the drain plug but dont know where to add new fluid ... any input on either questions is welcomed. Thanks!

 

pull the drain plug or remove cover... let it go out. Get a long tube thick enough to fit in the hole and bring it throught the wheel well so it is higher than the lsd... stick the fluid in the other end of the tube and let it gravity do the work... usually 1 1/2 bottles. use a breaker bar to remove the drain plug
