Synchros

My tranny has been grinding its way into 2nd and 3rd gears for a little while now, it finally seemed like a problem to address so i started talking to some friends to see what they thought. I got 3 very distinct answers that the synchros in the tranny need replaced. First thing i need to know is if that sounds about right...that it is in fact the synchros. next, i need to know is does the whole tranny need to be rebuilt or should i just have the synchros replaced?

is the grinding bad? if its not really bad, then you might be able to get away with flushing your tranny. i used Redline MT-90 and got great results.

drain and fill with mt90 or syncromesh...rev match from now on...and your set...use the tranny until it fully craps out on you...

im not sure how to judge how bad it is, it grinds at higher RPMs when im shifting up thru the gears and only 2nd and 3rd, it does almost everytime i downshift into 2nd or 3rd tho too. its enough to feel it thru the shifter pretty well. i am on an extremely tight budget right now, can't find a job anywhere but fast food, so i can't be doing anything more than probably $20 worth for the time being.

Yeah i have the same issue, going from 1st to 3rd.
I know you can do the MT-90 and stuff, but i wont to be able to hammer my gears, shift quick.
Its tricky when you don't have the money.

I'm planning on a new clutch, and new gears.
Not sure how much thats going to run me, but hell.... i want performance, i'll have to drive it easy until then.

My advice- Save up, drive easy until you can fix it.

I think i might just try to save up and get a newer tranny to swap in. im planning on boosting eventually so maybe thats the way to go instead of fixing the old one.

i bought some 80w-90 gear oil and a bottle of lucas tranny treatment to put in. I went to do it all and failed to realize that manual trannies are sealed. now, this might be a stupid question but where do i refill the tranny after draining it out. btw i did NOT already drain it, im not THAT dumb.
