wiring 5speed swap

I think I found the reason why my s13 5spd swap won't start, lol. Skipped the last step. I don't entirely understand it, this is directed at people who have done the 5 speed swap.

it reads...
24)backup lights & starting system
- The top connector with two female blade connections needs to be jumpered for the car to start. The third connector down from the top uses pins 3 & 8 for the backup lights. Switch pins 3&8 using the wiring from the backup light switch on the transmission.

Okay. What I think it means is that I need to run a wire connecting the 2 blade connectors for it to start, and I don't know what it means about the 'pins 3 and 8' thing. I've been working on this car for like 2 weeks, and I still don't understand what I have to do here (did a ka24de swap at the same time). Any help is great. I made a thread before this, it's obsolete, forget about it, this is my new 5speed swap question thread. Thanks

you have to splice together the wires for the park/nuetral switch...this tells the car that it is in park so you can start the car...the connector should be under the passenger side fusebox with 2 thicker size wires running into it. i beleive they are black/white stripe and a black/yellow stripe. cut the wires from the connector and splice them together, the car should then start.

Thank oyu, but how do I know I am cutting the right wires, I don't want to fry anyhting, or mess anything up with a wrong connection, are you sure it's those wires?

ok i just took a peak at mine...this is for the s13 by the way. on the passenger side fuse box there is a bundle of wires that run inside of it. the two wires come from that bundle but there is a connector underneath the fusebox that ran to your auto tranny. its hard to find but its there its literally mounted on the bottom of the fusebox and those 2 wires that go into the connector are the ones you need to splice, just connect them together and you should be ready to go

I found a couple black with white stripes. I spliced 2 wires together, but it was a no go. Maybe a pic of the wires I am supposed to splice, I found nothing mounted under the fuse box. Maybe I wasn't supposed to swap in my 5spd subharness?
What plug are those wires going into?
