Altima KA24DE differences

OK, i know i'm new and i'll prolly get flamed for even owning an Altima, but I love the car. Anyways, I just finished rebuilding the engine. Here's a link.

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289645335

I've now realized that I need to do some tranny work and I have bodykit/paint plans that are gonna require my car(daily driver) be sittin in the garage/show for awhile. In my search for a beater to drive around, I got my hands on a 1992 240sx Red 5-speed. It's got 140k miles, but for < $1000, it aint bad at all. Being that the 240 is a more easily modded car than the Altima, I'm sure that in the future, i'll wanna do some serious work to it as well, including rebuilding that engine too.

Anyways, I got an extra KA24DE sittin here and i was gonna junk it, but now that I got the 240, i'm wanting to know if at least the block and head are usable in the 240. I can obviously see that the manifolds are different and the mounting is different, but when I installed the rebuilt KA in the Altima, I noticed that not all of the "mounting holes" are used. Which leads me to believe that at least the blocks are interchangable. I'm pretty sure the valve train is exactly the same. The only visible difference is the PCV breather on the valve cover where mine is on the end and the 240 is on the back. I could work around that though.

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any help.

Charlie

Thanks for the props, it was a pain at a few spots.

OK, so if they are different, would they still be interchangable? I mean, if they'll work with the externals then i'll use them, but if the manifolds or anything doesn't bolt/gasket up correctly or if the distributor won't work, then i'll go ahead and junk it.

Oh yeah, most people don't know what wicked weasels are, but i only wish my gf wore them!

No they aren't inter-changeable. Bunch of stuff is in different locations... And I think ALL of us wish our gf's wore wicked weasels.
