question about extending mass plug

question about extending mass plug

i was wondering if i needed to use any special kind of wires to extend my mass plug for and sr red top? i dont have the ka harness so that rout is out of the question. thanks jason

Any old wire is fine. Well, new wire is preferable but you know what I mean.

Yeah its all good, I believe it should be 18g or 20g size.
Shielded wire would be dope but any good wire should work.

will it make a difference if i dont uses shilded? i would like to do it right the first time, i got the car and the person b4 didnt seem to care to much about the car, so i am cleaning up the mess and trying to get everything right.

yes you want shielded wire.. you don't want and interference from the surrounding wire.. thats why when you rip it apart you see the metal strands surrounding the wire.. if you cant locate any, just heavily tape each wire separately and then all together.

Just use the maf wiring from the ka to extend the sr one, as long as its good. Thats what we always did.

Radio shack will have it.
If you have some of that plastic tubing that you tape around the wire that will work too.

my fault, didn't read your post thoroughly. question, what are you going to do about the plugs you use from the ka harness? just curious.

ok heres the deal. dont tape each wire individually, theres nothing that tape is going to do that the insulation wont.

youll be fine to extend it using normal wire... yes, shielded is preffered, but at this point its neglegable. i use 16/4 home audio cable from home depot. its something like 43 cents a foot.
