V8 Chevy LS-1 powered 240sx coming soon!!!

He said a turn key with the motor is 12-15K. Way too much!!! He said the motor and trany alone are 6500, and that is bull because they don't sell on ebay for more than 4000. I say get you r own motor and then haggle with him, to get a good price. For 12-15 i'd rather get a corvette.

HOLY HELL THATS ALOT...I was really considering this swap WAS is the key word....Thats absolutely ridiculous. And with the recent discovery that i can regester my car in a place that doesnt require emmisions I think ill go with the Sr

If you are still looking at the 350, then check around where you live. I already found two people in houston that would be able to do the conversion, and probably for a lot less than 10k. So don't give up, i haven't
But the SR is still a great swap for the money, i just love the 350 chevy. To each his own

if you look in junkyards, theres allways a perfect chevy v8 block just waiting to be found, other then the transmission all you would need is bigger motor mounts. my friend put a chevy LT1 or something into an old 280z, he got the motor in a junkyard off a corvett, had a friend fabricate the motor mounts.. and wala a car that acualy keeps up with a hyabusa if not eat STi's alive..
btw...
all you fan boys should really shut up befor you say anything... people have been building performance cars for years, and swaping parts is nothing new, the aftermarket hasnt allways been around, people used to put domestic parts on imports for a long time now and... infinity is domestic too of all people some of you should of known that by now (well... some of the cars are the same but theres different power due to USA emissions crap)

i've started thinkin about doin this swap but with a carburated 350, mostly due to the fact that i got royally screwed tryin to get an sr20. i want to use a carburated 350 for the simplicity and i was hoping that some of yall would have advice about making the engine fit, headers that fit and what not.

shorty block hugger headers should fit no prob, and then have a muffler shop bend the rest from the headers back.
As for all the people talking about how you will "mess up the balance" of the car with a V8 or "it wont handle" after that. C'mon! The amount of extra weight your changing is not really much more than a system with amps and subs and putting a few extra gallons of gas in it. Thats without even getting into the differences in weight of your average driver and passenger. I am sure most of us arent the size of a jockey, I know I'm not.
Maybe people should try to put things in perspective a little more before going off on it.
and as for keeping it nissan, the whole hotrodding/tuner/performance car scene has been swapping different motors in cars since it began, its one of the strongest principles! So to say that its in any way "wrong" is just plain STUPID.
Think about it, if that was the mentality (dont dare to try different things, not specifically what brand) nobody would have started putting SRs, and sure as hell not RBs in 240s, they would have only messed with the KA. So wether its nissan or not is really besides the point. The whole idea of the hobby is make the car your own, and make it faster, and or better. However you arrive at the end, usually justifies your means, and most importantly, it makes the car yours in a way that buying it alone just cant do.

Im just coming over from the rx7 clubs just recently owning an FD and they would always rag on those who didn't want to deal with the rotary engine and just drop in LT1's. While I'm not a big fan of American muscle I think your idea is creative and merits further action. The car would definately be a good drift car (if your into that) from the sheer torque aspect, just blipping the throttle will send you around. I say it more original than the RB or SR and for that you should do it.
