My opinion on this subject:

You need to put down the Super Streed, Sport Compact Car, Modified...whatever it is your reading, and jump off the "OMG the SR20 is gods gift to the 240sx!!" bandwagon. I will say the SR is a good engine and has great potential, but I don't see how you can compare a built SR making the power that a stock V8 will put out.

I'm not big on domestics at all, but I can't deny that they do put out huge amounts of power, and if someone wants to put put that engine in a 240sx more power to them. It's something totally different than the SR swap that so many people do. There are very few cases where an SR actually impresses me (several members of this message board vehicles are very impressive with the SR), but its just been done to death, and I'm so tired of everyone, especially the bandwagon super drift king wannabe's, saying that the SR is so cool and that its the only way to go. Like I said, I'm not bashing the SR or people that choose the swap, unless your doing it for the reason I stated above.

Theres my $0.02...

In the other thread in this section title LS1 something or other I posted a link to a thread with info on the swap and if you read the thread that I link to there is a guy who makes a kit.

How the hell do you keep breaking timing chains and blowing headgaskets? Do you have like 800hp or something?

I got a V8 in mine too, its no rb, but its under 10 seconds and just under 500 horse. Plus it takes someone who knows something about motors, and cars in general to make it happen.

The thing about a v8 conversion every one seems to ask is how you fit that motor in there. And that’s not the problem, some frame ties, new cross member, and it’s in. Well its more then that but really isn't hard; the transmission is hard to fit. Because of the bell housing opening is small it has to be heated and pounded to high hell. I had to get my opening about 3 inches higher that way the lowest tranny bolts and bottom of the block would clear the steering column. I removed the old cross member and grinded her motor mounts off and cleaned it up and repainted it. This allowed me to not have to build a new rack and pinion, and have a frame support under the motor. Plus my addl frame rails ties, and new cross member hold the front together. But it’s a small block Chevy 400 punched out 30 over so 406 cubic inches, with a TH350 Trans with 2800 stall speed and b&m shift kit. 1998 Corvette rear, with 3.78 gears true posi. Adapted to fit the independent rear suspension.

i think that is a really good idea, it would be a little more different than just dropping a sr20 in there like everybody else does and you get get a ls1 running alot faster for less money than you can a sr20, i saw a 95 240 with a stock ls1 in it that ran 11.'s at the dragtrip. http://www.streetracinggallery.com/g...erry%20407.JPG

I think this guy is pretty close to where I'm at...as soon as my car is ready we should have a RB26 vs V8 showdown
